ANAK Kapatid In-School Mentorship Program 2011/12 launch!

The ANAK In-School Kapatid Mentorship Program launched their sixth year at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute on November 9. About 50 students and some parents attended the launch. For more information on the program, please contact info@anak.ca or visit our Facebook page 'ANAK Kapatid Mentorship'

The ANAK In-School Kapatid Mentorship Program was established in 2006 at DMCI High School. The following year, the program expanded to include the Bahay Kubo Initiative at Wellington School. The program aims to facilitate reciprocal learning through the cultural integration of newcomer youth to Winnipeg and the exploration of Filipino heritage by our 1.5 and second generation mentors. This learning takes place via mentorship, partnership, literacy/academic projects and activities. Mentors must complete a requisite orientation and have completed high school to volunteer as a mentor.
