On June 10, 2014 Aksyon Ng Ating Kabataan (ANAK) Inc. was honoured as one of the Global Bayaning Pilpino North America Award Winners at a ceremony held in Quezon City, Philippines at ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theatre. Awards were also presented to the Bayaning Pilipino Individual, Bayaning Kabataang Pilipino, Bayaning Samahang Pilipino, and Global Bayaning Pilipino Japan. The celebration capped off with a dinner on the executive floor of ABS-CBN Broadcast Center.
I had the honour of accepting the award on behalf of ANAK and would like to share with you our heartfelt thanks:
Magandang gabi bo sa inyong lahat, mga kapwa bayani at sa lahat ng manunuod. On behalf of ANAK, we are deeply honoured to receive this prestigious award. Marami pong salamat sa UGAT Foundation at ABS-CBN, at sa lahat ng bumubuo sa proyektong ito. Isa pong malaking karangalan na matawag na Bayani.
We are proud not because our effort is being recognized, but because it increases the awareness of the struggles of Filipino youth around the world to balance life in other countries and to define our identity. With the confidence of knowing who we are and where we come from, comes the strength to realize our potential. We hope the global Filipino community continues to grow and find success by investing in the youth.
We thank our supporters who saw our potential and invested in our ideas. We thank the Winnipeg School Division, DMCI, and Wellington School (Ms Perla Javate, Ms. Carolina Nario, Ms. Amelia Lingat and Ms. Susan Calansa). We also thank Pilipino Express, Philippine Heritage Council of Manitoba, and SEED Winnipeg. Thank you to our Filipino-Canadian community for nurturing our growth.
