"As each day passes the numbers of displaced and dead continue to rise," says ANAK on the aftermath of Typhoon Durian in Bicol. "The storm has devasated the region and ravenous mudslides have exacerbated the displaced. 40,000 people are now without water, electricity, and shelter. We call upon the Canadian government to respond promptly and efficiently to the many victims; as well as to the Arroyo administration to distribute the incoming international aid wisely." ANAK too will be taking part in the relief efforts in collaboration with UWFSA, the Philippine Times, and Pilipino Express News Magazine. See ANAK's Jan Nato on CBC Francais
