International Conference on the Hawaii Filipino Centennial

December 2006
From December 13 to 17, ANAK will take part in the International Conference on the Hawaii Centennial to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii. The conference is part of week long celebrations commemorating the 100th anniversary of the recruitment and arrival of Hawaii’s first Filipino migrant plantation workers in 1906. The event is organized by the University of Hawaii-Manoa and the Hawaii Filipino Centennial Celebration Commission and will address issues of vital importance to Filipinos in various international communities.
“We are extremely honored to represent the Filipino community here in Canada at this once in a life time event. We are so excited to meet with other youth, academics, and scholars who share in our passion for Philippine culture and history,” says ANAK.
