ANAK Launches Bahay Kubo Initiative

January 25, 2008

Expanding upon the success of the Kapatid In-School Mentorship Program at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute, ANAK's Bahay Kubo Initiative provides volunteer opportunities and leadership experience to newcomer high school students. As Filipino youth mentors to elementary students at Wellington School, they provide special attention in tagalog / english reading, writing, and the arts.

"The purpose of the program is to strengthen the foundation for aspiring Filipino-Canadian children through the support and guidance of Filipino-Canadian youth," says ANAK. "They are a part of a community initiative that will enhance literacy, healthy living, and leadership in celebration of Philippine heritage and culture."
