October 11, 2007 ANAK welcomes new volunteers to the Kapatid In-School Mentorship Program at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute. After a successful first year, this program aims to continue to provide academic support for newcomer Filipino youth while aiding in their transition to Winnipeg and Canada. Through reciprocal learning, the ANAK Kapatid mentors in return are given the opportunity to reconnect with their Philippine culture and heritage.
“Beyond building new friendships, it is Filipino youth supporting Filipino youth,” says ANAK.
